Mike Cahill is executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of City National Bank and City National Corporation, where he oversees the Corporate Administrative & Risk Group, consisting of Legal, Compliance, CRA, Corporate Premises, OREO, Real Estate Appraisal, Corporate Security, Risk Management, Internal Audit and Credit Risk Review.

He is a member of the Executive Committee, Disclosure Committee, Risk Council, Benefits Committee, Senior Operations Risk Committee, and Capital Investment Committee, among others.

Mr. Cahill joined City National in June 2001 with broad line and staff management experience in the financial services industry, and substantial expertise in mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions, risk management, governance, capital formation and strategic planning, among other areas. From 1996 through 2001, he served as CEO of several investment subsidiaries of Avista Corporation, located in Washington State.

Before that, Mr. Cahill worked at First Interstate Bancorp for 13 years, where he served as executive vice president and group general counsel responsible for legal matters related to various international banking activities, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, as well as company-wide litigation, bankruptcy and problem-loan activities. He also served as executive vice president, general counsel and chief administrative officer for First Interstate Bank's Texas affiliate, with responsibility for a diverse range of staff and line divisions. He previously spent four years in private law practice in Los Angeles.

Mr. Cahill is a member of the California and Washington State bar associations, and serves on the board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Los Angeles chapter. He is a frequent speaker at seminars on the subjects of banking, securities laws, risk management, corporate governance, compliance and related topics.
