Richard Shier directs City National Bank’s Banking & Investment Services, and serves on the bank’s Executive Committee.

Mr. Shier’s teams manage deposit, personal and business loan, residential lending sales and processing, online, card, international, private banking, wealth management, fraud prevention, payments and other services for clients of all City National business lines.  He also oversees various corporate functions.

His leadership experience includes developing a wide range of competitive and successful revenue-generating products and services, focusing on client value and experience, while simplifying delivery.

Before joining City National in 1998, Mr. Shier led senior management teams at Home Savings, improving productivity and pioneering high volume imaging, and First Interstate Bank where his targeted profitability strategy delivered rapid growth in key markets.  His 30-year experience includes payments revenue consulting, medical billing and payments technology companies.

Mr. Shier serves on the boards of the Clearing House Payments Company, the leading private-sector infrastructure for clearing and settling U.S. dollar payments; and NACHA, The Electronic Payments Association.  He is also active on the board and is former board chairman of WesPay, one of the nation’s largest regional payments associations.  He received that organization’s 2010 Russell L. Fenwick award for national leadership in the payments industry.
